The journey in homeland service has now led Mohammed Salih Bentin to an appointment as minister for Haj and Umrah by a royal decree issued Saturday.
After Bentin served as assistant deputy minister of Haj in 1998, he was nominated as Umrah affairs deputy in the same year, and continued serving pilgrims and providing them with full facilities until the middle of 2000, when he took over the leadership of the Saudi Postal Corp. in 2004. 
Bentin took his first educational steps at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals University in 1979, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 1982, he gained his master’s degree, and following this, he went to the United States and earned his doctorate in computer engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1989.

After returning to the Kingdom, he assumed the position as dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Computer Engineering in 1997, but his accomplishments did not stop at this point, as it did not keep him from publishing 100 research papers, and writing numerous scientific reports for a number of international scientific organizations.
